Today, Solee takes over the Klangspot Spotify playlist for the first time. The German electronic music producer, DJ, live act, and Parquet Recordings owner has selected 10 tracks for the top of the Instrumental Beats playlist.
I am glad that Normen Flaskamp, better known as Solee, is the first artist to curate a playlist takeover here. Alongside Joachim Pastor, Worakls, and N’to, Solee was one of the artists who pushed me to start this melodic electronic music playlist. His tracks have appeared regularly in Instrumental Beats for a long time, so this selection feels right.
The playlist is built for listeners who enjoy melodic techno, progressive house, deep electronic music, and instrumental club tracks that still work away from a dance floor. Solee’s choices move through that territory without feeling locked into one narrow style. There is rhythm and pressure in the tracks, but also space, melody, and the sort of detail that makes repeat listens worthwhile.
I do not feel the need to force Solee’s music into either techno or house. It does not quite work, and it does not need to. Every Noise at Once places Solee in categories including tech house, deep melodic euro house, minimal techno, and deep euro house. Those tags are useful for searching, but they only explain part of the sound.
Solee sounds like Solee. His productions can fit a techno playlist, a progressive house set, a chilled electronic selection, or a late-night drive playlist. That flexibility is a strength. Some tracks lean into a steady club pulse, while others let the melody carry more of the weight. The sound is polished, though it rarely feels sterile.
For anyone searching for melodic techno Spotify playlists, progressive house tracks, or instrumental electronic music with a little more patience than a standard peak-time set, this takeover is a good place to start. It is not a list of obvious crowd-pleasers. The tracks have been chosen by an artist whose own catalog moves comfortably between introspective melodies and direct dance-floor momentum.
Normen is also the person behind Parquet Recordings. He runs the label under the motto “Class instead of Mass.” That phrase is more useful as a description of the release policy than as marketing copy: Parquet has maintained a recognizable musical direction rather than chasing every passing club trend.
Artists including Township Rebellion, Hidden Empire, Tim Engelhardt, and Oliver Schories have released music on Parquet Recordings. The label also puts out records by newer producers whose work suits its melodic, atmospheric approach. By the time of this post, Parquet had reached 200 releases. That is a substantial catalog for listeners who want to explore German melodic techno and progressive electronic music beyond a single playlist.
You could fill the Instrumental Beats playlist with Parquet tracks alone and still avoid repetition. That says something about the range within the label’s sound. There are driving arrangements for club sets, slower tracks with a more reflective mood, and remixes that alter the original without flattening its character.
Solee’s selection includes several of his own tracks and reworks, plus music by Ryan Davis, Wally Lopez, Third Son, and Mashk. The sequence makes sense as a playlist rather than a simple artist sampler. “Impressed (Rework)” opens with familiar Solee territory, while “Rosa,” “Anmut,” and “Infinidad” show different sides of his melodic production style. The remixes are just as important here. They show how he approaches another artist’s material without making every track sound identical.
Instrumental Beats is intended for focused listening as much as casual playback. Put it on while working, travelling, or winding down, then return to the tracks that catch your ear. Electronic music playlists are often treated as background noise. These selections reward a bit more attention.
Instrumental Beats: Solee takeover Spotify playlist
Listen to the Solee Spotify playlist takeover here:
The 10-track selection brings together Solee originals, reworks, and melodic electronic remixes. It is a concise introduction for new listeners and a solid overview for people who already follow Parquet Recordings, melodic techno, and progressive house.
Takeover tracklist
Solee – Impressed (Rework)
Solee – Rosa
Solee – Anmut
Ryan Davis – Jima (Solee Remix)
Solee – Infinidad
Wally Lopez & Third Son – Geometry (Solee Remix)
Solee – Ten
Solee – Saga
Solee – Instinct
Mashk – Last Breath (Solee Remix)
The tracklist has a clear internal logic. Solee’s originals establish the mood, while the Ryan Davis, Wally Lopez & Third Son, and Mashk remixes add contrast without breaking the flow. “Saga,” “Ten,” and “Instinct” are especially useful reference points if you want to hear the balance between his melodic ideas and his club-focused programming.
Solee live at Rainbow Serpent Festival 2018 (full set with live ambience)
The full Solee live set from Rainbow Serpent Festival 2018 gives more context for how these tracks and related material work in a longer DJ and live performance setting. Festival recordings are imperfect by nature, and the crowd ambience is part of the recording rather than something to be removed. That is what makes this set more useful than a clean studio mix.
