October 2, 2020It’s time to give away the ‘Melodic Beats’ playlist again. And I am absolutely convinced that Niko Schwind will take good care of her.

Since the beginning of the Corona crisis Fritz Kalkbrenner took over the playlist, things have been quiter. No special, no takeover. Now I’m even more happy that Niko Schwind will take over the ‘Melodic Beats’ playlist on Spotify this week.
How did it happen? I regularly check who is on my playlists for a longer period of time and whose tracks aren’t erased. His tracks are on various Klangspot playlists for a long time. All I do is to replace old tracks with new ones made by him. And from time to time I also take a look at my Last.fm profile, which confirms my assumption: I am a Niko Schwind fan 🙂
Originally from Trier, Niko has been living in Berlin for several years. And his musical home is also in the German capital, namely on the renowned label ‘Stil vor Talent‘. Ten years has passed since the release of his debut album ‘The Autistic Disco‘. Further there were numerous single/EP releases. Niko’s music is at home on the dance floor as well as in the lounge to calm down. Club track or relaxed downtempo with organic/ethnic elements. Perhaps it is precisely the versatility and the moment of surprise that is so fascinating about his music.
His latest release is again a collaboration with Felix Raphael, with whom he already released the terrific track ‘Circles‘ a few months ago. ‘Planets‘ is released today on the second part of the 15 year ‘Stil vor Talent‘ compilation series. Danceable and relaxed at the same time with a lot of feeling, beautiful harmonies combined with Felix’ great voice. The track knows how to convince all along the line. Planets’ is not part of Niko’s take-over tracklist, because he takes over my instrumental-only playlist. All the more I am glad that this special could be realized. So I recommend you to listen to the ‘Melodic Beats‘ playlist with Niko’s amazing instrumental tracks, but also the ‘Melodic House & Techno 2020‘ playlist, where you can find ‘Planets’.
Unfortunately I haven’t had the opportunity to meet Niko personally yet. But I hope that someday this will happen. Because he’s really a great artist and I consider him to be the kind of person with whom you like to go out for a beer and philosophize about the world.
