Hannes and Holger, known as AKA AKA, have taken over Klangspot’s edition of Spotify’s ‘Melodic Beats’ playlist. The German electronic music duo have spent more than a decade making music between tech house, techno and melodic dance music. Their records rarely stay within one narrow genre, which remains part of their appeal.
I have always liked how AKA AKA maintain a clear identity while changing the mood of a release. One track may lean on a rolling club groove, while another has a softer melodic pull. Their music works in late-night sets, but it also holds up when heard closely at home or on a long train ride.
