AKA AKA take over the ‘Melodic Beats’ playlist!
German electronic music duo AKA AKA has curated a special edition of Klangspot's 'Melodic Beats' Spotify playlist, featuring 10 instrumental tracks. This takeover highlights AKA AKA's unique sound, which spans tech house, techno, and melodic dance music, offering listeners a selection that combines their own productions with those of artists like Daniel Helmstedt and Lexer. The duo, known for their varied catalog since their first record on Oliver Koletzki’s Stil vor Talent label, brings a focused collection of bass-led, rhythmic, and detailed club music. These tracks are available for one week, providing a human-curated listening experience for various moods.
Hannes and Holger, known as AKA AKA, have taken over Klangspot’s edition of Spotify’s ‘Melodic Beats’ playlist. The German electronic music duo have spent more than a decade making music between tech house, techno and melodic dance music. Their records rarely stay within one narrow genre, which remains part of their appeal.
I have always liked how AKA AKA maintain a clear identity while changing the mood of a release. One track may lean on a rolling club groove, while another has a softer melodic pull. Their music works in late-night sets, but it also holds up when heard closely at home or on a long train ride.
For this AKA AKA Spotify playlist takeover, Hannes and Holger selected ten instrumental tracks for listeners who enjoy melodic electronic music with rhythm, space and a little pressure. The selection combines their own productions with tracks by Daniel Helmstedt, Nico Pusch, Lexer, EDX and Marcus Meinhardt.
AKA AKA released their first record on Oliver Koletzki’s Stil vor Talent label. The EP ‘Voegeln‘ found an audience quickly, and ‘Woody Woodpecker‘ reached the top of Beatport’s minimal chart. Dubfire, Claude VonStroke and Troy Pierce supported the track.
That early release still says something about the duo’s approach. AKA AKA make dance tracks with direct hooks and momentum, while leaving room for unusual details and playful sounds. ‘Woody Woodpecker’ is a good example: its central idea is simple, but the arrangement continues to shift around it. That balance has kept their catalogue varied over the years.
Their sound suits listeners looking for melodic techno and tech house playlists that move beyond predictable build-and-drop formulas. Some tracks are light on their feet; others are darker and more driving. The common thread is momentum. Even the quieter selections sound as though they belong in a DJ set.
AKA AKA are regular DJs in clubs and at festivals. Beyond the studio and touring, they have appeared in radio and streaming formats including the WDR 1 LIVE DJ Session. Hannes and Holger also run three labels: Burlesque Musique, Sacrebleu and HYMNS. Between label work, releases and DJ sets, their output has remained varied.
The labels offer AKA AKA another route for bringing music into circulation. A DJ duo can build a career around its own releases, but operating a label also involves decisions about other artists, tracks and release schedules. That work is less visible than a festival set, yet it influences the electronic music that reaches listeners and DJs.
Hannes and Holger selected 10 instrumental favourites for the top of Spotify’s ‘Melodic Beats’ playlist. The tracks will be available there for one week. Save the ones you like to your Spotify library.
The playlist is concise, which suits the format. It does not try to cover every corner of electronic music. Instead, AKA AKA’s selection stays close to the melodic club music they play and produce: bass-led, rhythmic and detailed without becoming overworked.
For a focused work session, an evening drive or the first hours of a club night, start with the tracks below. Listen to the transitions between the more melodic cuts and the tougher, percussion-led records. That contrast gives the playlist more shape than a collection of songs at the same intensity.
