July 18, 2025In an exciting musical collaboration, the album titled ‘De-Phazz presents Octaves‘ offers a fresh and captivating reinterpretation of the most iconic tracks by the legendary Nu-Jazz ensemble De-Phazz. This innovative project transforms familiar songs into new soundscapes through delicate and expressive piano arrangements, showcasing the versatility and emotional depth of both the original compositions and the talented artists involved.
The creation of ‘Octaves’ was a collaborative effort between the renowned labels Phazz-a-delic New Format Recordings and Klangspot Recordings. The latter is especially recognized for its expertise in the realm of neo-classical music, bringing a refined and sophisticated touch to the project. The album will be released on the new sub-label Klangspot Nu Jazzical.
This album features subtle, heartfelt interpretations by 17 pianists from across eight different countries and three continents, each representing the vibrant and diverse international neo-classical piano scene. Through their artistry, the complex and layered universe of De-Phazz is distilled to its core elements—melody, emotion, and sound—allowing listeners to experience these timeless tracks from a new perspective.
Famous titles such as ‘The Mambo Craze‘ and ‘Jazz Music‘ are reimagined with clarity, simplicity, and poetic sensitivity, revealing new depths and nuances. The arrangements emphasize the melodic essence and emotional resonance of the pieces, creating an intimate listening experience that bridges genres and cultural boundaries.
Leading up to the album’s release on October 31, 2025, five singles will be unveiled to introduce audiences to this remarkable reinterpretation. The release schedule is as follows:
- July 18, 2025: Sarah Watson with her rendition of ‘The Mambo Craze‘
- August 8, 2025: Robert Gromotka’s version of ‘No Jive’
- August 29, 2025: Cristian Vivaldi with ‘Jazz Music’
- September 19, 2025: Rikard From’s take on ‘Saw It On The Radio’
- October 10, 2025: Ana Rebeka’s interpretation of ‘My Society’
‘De-Phazz presents Octaves’ promises to be a compelling journey through familiar melodies, re-envisioned with poetic sensitivity and musical finesse, highlighting the timeless appeal of De-Phazz’s music through the expressive language of piano and neo-classical artistry.
