October 3, 2025Swedish pianist Ana Rebekah reinterprets De-Phazz’s My Society by reducing it to its pure melody, letting new harmonies emerge naturally. De-Phazz founder Pit Baumgartner calls her version “a revelation — as if it were the original.”
Swedish pianist Ana Rebekah was particularly drawn to the narrative and clarity of the De-Phazz piece `My Society` from the album `Days of Twang`. `I removed everything except the melody to see what would remain – and that’s exactly when new harmonies began to emerge, as if the song were finding new paths on its own. It was important to me that `My Society’ keep its own personality while leaving room for my individual expression`, says the trained classical and jazz pianist, who has been successfully releasing meditative solo pieces online and on labels such as Yellow Rose Records and Andante Piano since 2021. De-Phazz director Pit Baumgartner is deeply impressed by her version for `De-Phazz presents Octaves`: `I got to know the song in a new way. Suddenly, this melody starts to unfold into a completely different character. As if it were the original!`
